My name is David Sollenberger, founder of Smooth Cuts Custom Homes & Furniture. After serving in the Air Force, I got into hands-on work in my early 20s. I learned the trade from my grandfather, who owned Emmert Drafting Machines and Vise Company, and continued building that foundation alongside skilled craftsmen, woodworkers, and builders who took pride in doing things the right way.
That mindset still drives how I approach every project today.
Experience That Goes Beyond the Build
Over time, my work expanded into custom homes, renovations, and interior projects. I focus on blending traditional craftsmanship with modern materials and methods, so the end result not only looks right but holds up over time.
After the 2008 market shift, I stepped into leadership roles across the industry. That included production management with a mahogany boat manufacturer, along with operations roles in millwork, kitchens, and bath, and experience with one of the largest millwork companies in New York City.
Those roles sharpened how I run projects today. It’s not just about the build, it’s about keeping everything organized, making sure communication is clear, and keeping the job moving without things slipping through the cracks.
How We Approach Every Project Today
Now, I bring that full background into every project. The work is backed by structure, attention to detail, and a clear process from start to finish. I stay involved throughout to make sure everything is done right and meets the standard my clients expect.
A large portion of my work comes from repeat clients and referrals. That’s built on consistency, clear communication, and delivering results the way they should be done the first time.
